According to MSNC this morning, big pharma Gilead Services has set a price to their manufactured remdesivir, use for COVID-19. They have set the price at $390 for a vial of remdesivir. It takes 5 (five) doses over 5 days ($390 x 5 = $2,340). to get the full effect.
Private insurance companies will pay $520 per vial, with a total of $3,120 for the full five days of medication. Which the insurance companies have yet to say if they will pay for it or not, as many believe Gilead Services are over-pricing during a pandemic, just to gain monetarily.
I am praying that Gilead Services takes a nice hard look at these prices, and realizes that if those on private insurance are denied payment for the cost, and they are slowly dying off because their insurance doesn't pay for the drug, that someone will sue their pants off for letting poor old Garndpa, Uncle Don, of Mom die because they were denied treatment. And that will manifest in a guilty of manslaughter or worse. You simply cannot use something as serious as a pandemic, separating the rich from the poor. The haves and Have Not's.
