A Few Pics of Latest Project

For about a year now, I have been dedicating most of my free time to making "junk journals". (For those of you who may have spent the last couple of years under a rock, a junk journal is a journal/diary that is made entirely, or partially, from junk items, which may include scrapbooking materials, or in my case, I use more junk mail than anything else!)

This past week, my unofficial mentor, Pam over at "The Paper Outpost" (search on google.com or YouTube for the Paper Outpost, and Pam will all of her links posted). Pam posted a junk journal made from a large, padded, mailing envelope. Sure enough, since I was out of these envelopes, I got one in the mail!. I'm not going to show you how I made this journal, just the finished results. (Pam has the "How-To" on her YouTube channel!) This was much more fun to make than I ever thought it would be. As I was making it, I kept telling myself it was so impractical! The front and back cover is soft, and sounds real crinkly. #1, it's so pleasant to handle!

Front Cover:
The cover on Pam's example was made from cloth. I substituted vinyl wall paper with the peel and stick adhesive. The Interior end pages were also peel and stick wall paper. This one is called "Black and White Toile". The Interior is "Gray Marble".

The End Cover, Interior
Gray, Marbled.
Copy Paper folded to 8-1/2" x5-3/4"

There are three signatures to this journal.

There are 3-signatures in this journal. Each signature consists of 10 sheets of 8.5 x 11-inch paper, folded in half. Folded in half, and then each quarter becomes an entire journal page. So, the signatures equal 10-pages per signature, 3 signatures equal 30 sheets. Those 30 sheets multiplied by 4 (quarters), becomes 120 "pages". (The large amount of bunched up cover is actually the front, and the way I am holding the book is making the cover bunch up. The front is really identical to the back.)

Currently none of the pages have been decorated. (I hope to finish this up either this evening, later on. or tomorrow. I thought I wouldn't like the soft cover, however, I think I will really like it!  It's comfortable to hold. And it makes the over-all weight of the book, seem weightless!

If you are interested in purchasing this soft-cover junk journal will be available for $42.50 plus shipping & handling. Simply let me know if you want it, and I will invoice you.

Thanks for looking this soft-sided junk journal over!

Have a great evening!
