Hey everybody!
Texicanwife here, and I just wanted to show off the latest junk journal to make into the anals of my Etsy store, Texicanwife's Treasure's.
Her name is Big Mouth Betty, and you'll see why in a moment. And while she may seem a little masculine on the outside, let me assure you that Big Mouth Betty is a lady at heart!
Betty's exterior is a repurposed book, so she can handle the rough stuff if she needs to! She is a hardback book that once was a Junior High School music appreciation book. She is black in color, with red print and graphics.
Betty measures a sweet 5-1/2-inch wide when closed, and is 8-3/4-inches tall. Her spine makes 1-3/4-inches deep.
She sports a bling, bling. On her spine she sports a spine dangle that is 10-1/2 inches long. It is made dark brown knitted macrame cord, so it's tough. She is attached at the top of the spine with a mini bull-dog clip. Then she trails down the spine ending in a silver-toned flat keyring with bulb pins holding the bling in place, and that includes one mini skeleton key (brass) and 4 silver colored charms. At the top of the book, along the top of the pages she sports another pin with four more silver colored charms. She is tied shuit with a beautiful blue broadcloth ribbon. Each of her corners has brass corner protectors on to help protect her dut to her age.
Inside, Miss Betty has three large signatures which are sewn and then glued in place to protect their integrity. Eac h signature is made with 10 sheets of paper, which makes four pages of the actual journal. So, 4 pages x 10 sheets actually equals 40 pages per signature, with a total number of pages being 120. And we have maximized and attempted to use each and every page to its fullest potential!
Betty is made using mixed media: we have beautiful magazine photography, gorgeous floral paintings, and the printed word. Each page will come decorated, however, we have made sure to give you a maximum amount of writing surface.
Inside you will see pages like this above. These pages are made with tea dyed rose print. And while the background has rose print, it is light enough that you can use a gel pen or marker and write right on top. You will also see pockets, like the one on the left with journal cards that you can also write on both the front and the backs. On the left you see an old envelope that has been used as a tuck, and holds old letters and ephemera.
You will also see, as above, old advertisements. This one is for toilet water and perfume from Florida Water.
Here are two decorated "scroll" pages that you can write upon. Just lovely!
Here we find another very old letter written on a grocer's list paper. It is placed and held in the journal with a pony-shaped paper clip.
Here we have a love rose designed book mark.
Here is a black and white lot of advertisements that have been collaged. So much fun to look and read through!
Above, (not sure how this page got turned side-ways) we have a magazine photo of a lady in the summer time with a lovely chotton shirtdress. Her legs are bare above her sandals. The page was not tall enough to place the photo properly on the page, so I simply folded her legs up, and they can be unfolded, as seen here, to be able to see her lovely sandals!
Here we have two more photographs. The one on the left just looks so happy! I hope you will purchase this journal, because this, to me, is the feeling I hope to transfer to whomever purchases Big Betty. Look at that head thrown back, face upturned, and a smile of reckless abandon at the day! Isn't she beautiful? (We won't name who this is, betch can guess though!)
And lastly, how big of a Big Gator Mouth does Big Mouth Betty have? See it for yourself. Betty has an impressive 6-inch gator mouth (and that's when she is tied closed with the ribbon!)
Betty's a lady you will enjoy for years to come. She'll hang around long enough that you can share her with your children, grandchildren, or maybe even your great-grandchildren!
